It looks likely that a number of the current Tottenham squad will be allowed to leave the club at the end of the season. The likes of Gilberto, Rocha, and Boateng obviously have no future under Harry Redknapp. Some high profile players including Bentley, Zokora and Pavlyuchenko will also probably be available if the right sort of offers come in.
Are there any players on their way out that we should be keeping hold of? I’ve always been a fan of Taarabt but how long do we give to to convert his unlimited potential into the final product we need? I know his chances have been fairly limited and it’s going to be even harder for him now he needs knee surgery but I’d be keen for us to keep hold of the lad for now.
It’s a similar story with Giovani Dos Santos. He’s been excellentin hi brief spell at Ipswich and he’s another player I’d like to see get more chances next season. I’m hoping Harry uses the Carling Cup next season as an opportunity to blood players such as Taarabt, Dos Santos and Bostock.
Of the established members of the squad, I wouldn’t be that disappointed to see Zokora, Bentley and even Huddlestone going. The thing that annoys me with a lot of these fringe players is the fact they run to the press the second they aren’t in the side. I realise it’s all part of the game and they are probably just doing as they are told by their agents but speak to Harry in private and tell the press you are working hard to get your place back, don’t throw around threats about leaving when you just ain’t that good.
Obviously Lennon and Modric speak for themselves and I can’t see the club letting either of them go no matter what kind of offers are on the table. I’ll just be keeping my fingers crossed that Sir Alex doesn’t take a shine to either of them because he has 100% control over transfers as well as refs! Alan Hutton in a red shirt would not surprise me before too long.
Gomes – now beginning to be that player we thought he was.
Cudiccini – adequate cover
Hutton – Corlucca has shown a few flaws recently, especially when he moved in to replace Dawson against Newcastle, and when he showed more than average bewilderment as we crumbled against Mancs …. so the Scot is a class player to keep
Corlucca – I would like to see more use in a midfield role …
Dawson – the man!!
Jenas – we notice him most when he isn’t playing, a good player with some limitations, but needed.
Zakora – at least until we replace him with better
Huddlestone should go – he has no pace and no urgency either
Bentley is invisible and has no place in our present style – a bit like Huddlestone, actually
Palacios – for all the great stuff he brings in, a bit of a headless chicken who needs sorting out.
Taraabt is a more hopeless headless chicken with or without a knee injury
Dos Santos should go, having not set Ipswich on fire I doubt he can do it at the Lane
Keep Bent – he plays well off Keane
Still don’t rate Defoe – will he EVER be a team player?
Pavluchenko should go if we can find a proven and regular scorer, but stay till we find him …
Keep O’Hara and persevere as a sub until we properly strengthen the left side
Rocha Chimbonda and Gilberto – make room for youngsters …
Lennon, Keane and Modric – in all circumstances, but accept that Robbie is declining, and plan.
You dont know what you are talking about my friend
I cant belive my fellow spurs fans huddlestone offers far more than jenas jenas speed odd goal huddlestone passing shooting also defender ask donesk everton last year 0-0 .It takes somthing for grey to drull over any player but he did about to where does this pace come from he doesent need to run when he can pass thtas like saying somone with a long tee shot should be good with a seven iron if you play golf you will no what i meen .Tom has got 8 out of ten in his last two games jenas 4 against utd i bet any money we would have won if he had played the whole of the second half is passing would have pegged utd back with lennons pace .SO GROW UP BECAUSE THE PACE YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT IS OUT OF A BOTTLE TRUST ME AND NEXT YEAR WILL BE IT WILL BE STOPPED. (EPHEDRINE)
We must keep Jenas or Janus as I know him. The boy has the softest hands and the most cute lips from all of our players. He is so caring and gentle.
TommyHarmer you’re an idiot. Do you even know the team you support???
Must keep Dos Santos, Taraat, and Pav. To say Palacios is a headless chicken and then say to get rid of Zakora only until we replace him with better??? Palacios is the man.
This is how l see it:
Gomes – keep, he is improving all the time
Corluka-sell,nice touches but not mobile enough
Dawson – keep
Woodgate – keep and make captain
King – keep
BAE – keep, has improved a lot this season
Hutton – keep, one season to improve
Chimbonda – keep, good cover
Lennon – keep, keep, KEEP
Palacios – keep, the steel we need
Zokora – keep, good cover for Palacios
Jenas – sell, if we get a good offer
Bale – keep, one season to improve
Modric – keep, keep, KEEP
Huddlestone – keep for one more season
Bentley – sell, try to recoup some money
Keane – keep, his enthusiasm is infectious
Defoe – sell, too greedy, not a team player
Bent – keep, has improved, worth another season
Pav – sell, if recieve decent offer
Sell the rest of the fringe players and bring in proven goalscorer (Santa Cruz?), Downing, midfield enforcer (not sure who)
Vooghty the Yid says
Gomes – KEEP – started poor now pulling off some blinding saves
Corluka – KEEP – A bit slow, but pretty solid, puts in some decent passes to Lennon & Modric
Dawson – KEEP – SOLID Player
Woodgate – KEEP – But work on communication
King – KEEP – But have bionic knee implants
BALE – SELL – We cant win with him playing, and the poor geezer has no confidence because of this
Hutton – KEEP – Needs time to impress
Chimbonda – SELL – Will sulk if he continues not getting a game
Lennon – KEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP
Palacios – KEEP AND SMASH MIDFIELDERS TO PIECES
Zokora – SELL – Although hes solid, he wants to leave and I think his Spurs days are numbered
Jenas – KEEP – Finding his form again, slowly
Modric – KEEEEEEEEEEEEEP- CLASS act
Huddlestone – KEEP – Give him games and he will score
Bentley – SELL – Like him, but not done it has he, will get goal of the season though
Keane – KEEP – Captain, loves spurs, loves playing, loves scoring
Defoe – KEEP – My favourite so what can i say
Bent – SELL – Top scorer but i could finish shots he misses
Pav – Keep – Good player, good in the air, 3rd choice striker
Bostock – KEEP – 1 for the future, mark my words
Assou – KEEP – Most improved player
Taarabt, Rocha or anyone else ive missed out, SELL SELL SELL….
strange mix of spurs fans here… i disagree with most of you really!
IMO, i’d keep pretty much all of those players you mention. We need 2 quality players in each position, and therefore, i think these will be the summer transfers:
Alnwick – not good enough
Cudicini – fed up of being on the bench AGAIN
Rocha – useless
Gilberto – actually quite a good player, but obviously hasn’t worked out and will be off
Boateng – may come good, but not at spurs
Huddlestone or Jenas – one has to go because we need to bring in that athletic partner for Sgt Wilson
Bentley or Dos Santos – If bentley wants out, then we have to let him go IMO, but if he’s willing to fight for his place, i’d put my money on gio leaving (which will be a shame). If bentley does go though, gio provides perfect cover for both flanks, and will get some good playing time
Taarabt/O’Hara – both players could get a fair amount of playing time next season, but i see some of these fringe players getting frustrated if some aren’t moved on. taarabt has more talent, but o’hara’s much more dedicated to the cause. over to you harry!
Bent/Pavlyuchenko – depends purely on offers, but i’m sure if we get a decent 10m+ offer for either harry may well cash in and buy his own centre forward. if the bids don’t come in and the players are happy to fight for their place, however, we will keep them! and for the good i believe, as i think Pav will be an exceptional player next season, and bent will always score goals.
A young, reserve goalkeeper
A solid centre back – Upson?
A goalscoring, attacking central midfielder to partner Sgt Wilson – Muntari? Van Der Vaart? De Guzman?
A goalscorer – if Pav or Bent leave. Crouch? Chamakh? BERBATOV?? 🙂
there’s my two cents!

ESSEXYID I AM WITH YOU MOST OF THESE SPURS FANS HAVE NOT GOT A CLUE WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT AND I FOR ANOTHER COULD NOT AGREE WITH THEM ABOUT THEIR IN`S AND OUT`S , WITHOUT TALKING ABOUT THEIR GOOD AND BAD POINT`S HERE IS A LIST OF THE OUT`S JENAS , BENT , BENTLEY , GHALY , ROCHA , GILBERTO , PAVLYUCHENKO , ZOKORA , MODRIC , KEANE AND O`HARA , IN`S NESTLEROOY , VANDER VAART , BARRY , O`SHEA , TAYLOR / RISSE , CRUZ / CROUCH , PARKER , AND CAPEL / BRUNT .
Robbie Keane should be offloaded as he is not the same player he was before he left for liverpool. Doesn’t impose an attacking threat and his pace has decreased greatly. Lennon and Modric must stay!
I think Ekotto has come on a lot, but I’m still not comfortable watching him. Against Man I he was caught out of position so many times. He gets sucked towards the ball too often and doesn’t seem to notice he’s left his man with acres of space to exploit behind him. Also his clearances and decision making can be a bit suspect at times. Any decent defender should be able to clear the ball a fair way up the pitch but Ekotto quite often slices it into his own area.
I think we should keep Huddlestone, but he needs to play with a bit more urgency. He’s never going to be the quickest of players, but sometimes he seems to think he has all the time in the world and all too often gets caught on the ball. And the odd time where he could release someone on the counter-attack but instead decides to take a player on on the edge of the box happens a bit too often. He can be very frustrating.
Pav is scoring the odd goal, but I think we can get better.
I also find Bent frustrating as well. His first touch and general control lets him down far too often. It’s a weird one because sometimes his control is great, but like against United he gave th ball away far too many times when all he had to do was hold it up.
I’ve not seen a great deal of Hutton, I know United were keen on him the same time as us, but from what I have seen I haven’t been particulary impressed. I really think Fergy will be quite pleased he didn’t get him. But at the same time I could see him going to United and Fergy making him into solid part of the team.
I’ve always liked Zokora, but if we are going to compete with the best we need better. For years now I’ve been saying we should follow in Chelsea’s style of buying a powerful African defensive midfielders and when we got Zokora I thought he might be the one. But he’s no where near the likes of Essien, Makelele or Mikel. Fast, strong, ball winning players. And especially like Essien who can also scores goals. Hopefully Harry will unearth a bargain.
We don’t need to change much really, like harry said just a few tweaks in a couple of positions and we can challenge, downing is best bet for left wing as he needs no introduction to the premiership and works hard all game also has a wonderful left peg, a lot of people don’t rate him but he is the star player in a rubbish team so imagine what he can do with our players around him? if we want to challenge finally next season then surely we have to go for downing and not a foreign player who needs a season 1st, i do like the idea of muntari coming as would be excellent with sgt wilson, i like crouch aswell (very underrated)again needs no introduction to prem and will score goals, i felt he was very good at liverpool again with good players around him and his england record speaks for itself, everywhere else in the team is good and well covered, bale will come good and is still young, taarabt out on loan for whole season to qpr is good, everyone else can do a job so for me just bentley and bent to go, sorry but it hasn’t worked out for bentley and bent for all his goals thank you very much but you did cost us 16.5m so you should score goals but you just aint good at other areas in the game like holding ball up, try and keep the team settled as much as possible for next season and we could be in for that holy grail we have been seeking for so long.
What the f@@k are you talking abou JD? looks like your prepared to sell your granny! The problem with us is this, we dont let our team settle! Every year we buy a complete midfield and then realise none of them are any good! Give the plyers we got a chance and for crying out loud buy a left midfielder or winger Harry!!
In ‘Arry we trust!
south upper says
Huddlestone will never be the midfilder we need so get over it already
Starting Gun says
It goes without saying that we sell Gilberto, Rocha and Boatang. My thoughts on other players to sell are:
Chimbonda – SELL – Poison
Zokora – SELL – I like him and he can provide adequate cover but would let him leave if an offer comes in.
Jenas – Sell – He is neither an attacking midfielder or a defensive one. what is his purpose. Let Everton have him.
Bentley – SELL – He has offered so little this year. He does not deserve to be at the club. Cut our losses and offload.
Bent – SELL – Useless. Cut losses. Not the answer for us I am afraid.
Gomes – KEEP – He has got a lot better and has begun to show the form that knocked us out of the UEFA cup last year.
Corluka – KEEP – Good enough to force Hutton to be on top of his game to displace him and can play in midfield or at centre back. Keeps Modders from feeling homesick.
Dawson – KEEP – Thought he has found his form again this year.
Woodgate – KEEP – But work on communication
BALE – Keep for one more season and see if he takes his opportunities.
Hutton – KEEP – Looked good before he got injured
Lennon – Keep -glimmer of an end product at times this season.
Palacios – Keep – the boss.
Modric – Amazing
Huddlestone – KEEP – Showed in last couple of games that he is class. He should partner Wilson.
Keane – I think we need to keep him but I do not see how he will link with Defoe who is a better player.
Defoe – KEEP –
Pav – Keep – Give him a rest to recover from 2.5 years of constant footy and I think he will develop into a lethal finisher.
Assou – KEEP – Most improved player
I cant believe some people are saying to sell Defoe. WTF is it with you. Sell Defoe and give Bent another season? LMAO
Defoe is great and loves Spurs, when he came back he scored 3 goals in 4 games ffs.
Bent has had enough chances already and has to go. he can score 1 or 2 goals in 7 games that is not good enough.
You also havent got a clue what your on about! Sell Modric, Pav and Keane? what a fool you are
Vooghty the Yid says
Fucking well said Sarah, I do like a fellow Defoe lover!!!
The geezer can ruin defences with his pace on the ball and his finishing…
He loves Spurs, loves Harry and loves scoring goals, when hes back fully (as in next season) defenders will be scared of him again…
I can’t believe most of you. We need to make very few adjustments to our squad. We have 2 good goalkeepers in Gomes & Cudicini, for defence we have Corluka, Hutton, Chimbonda, Daws, Woody, Ledley & Assou-Ekotto along with youngsters (who could be loaned out) like Gunter, Bale, Archibald-Henville & Dervitte which just leaves us short of 1 LB so we could do with an experienced LB/CB (someone like Heinze would be good). In midfield I would say keep Lennon, Bentley, Jenas, Palacios, Hudd, O’Hara & Modric. Let Zokora leave if he wants to and then buy a left winger (don’t know who but not Downing!). Up front I would stick with the 4 we’ve got & give them a season to gel together. Send youngsters such as Gunter, Bale, Archibald-Henville, Dervitte, Bostock, Parrett, Giovani, Taarabt & Obika out on loan (either to lower Prem clubs or high Championship clubs if possible) & see how they get on. That would mean that players like Alnwick, Rocha, Gilberto, Boateng, Zokora if he wants to leave & maybe Chimbonda if we bring in a LB that can also play CB, can be sold.
lots of differing opinions fellow yids for what its worth my opinion would be the obvious casulaties for the exit
Hudd not the player who will ever impose at this level against weak opposition fine otherwise…
Bent Goals ratio poor and not a natrual striker
Bentley no confidence and a tart who performs sometimes when he fancies
Bale monkey nuff said
Tarrabt selfish greedy and not a team player if he ever learns to lift his head he may be good one day
Chimbonda bench warmer and will kick off if not played get rid
Jenas great and crap in unequal doses crap more often than not piss poor consistency
get rid of the reserve fringers like Rocha , Boateng etc also
Let harry wheel and deal to get the right replacements keep Gio as he will come good and has at least got the use of both feet JD will be back to his best when he returns and wants to play for Spurs he is worth 20+ goals a season with the right service
