As we are now aware, talks have been ongoing with Mauricio Pochettino and Tottenham Hotspur with regards to a dramatic return to the club for the Argentinian. Even the best online casino usa could not have predicted this set of events and it seems crazy that Spurs dismissed the now Paris Saint Germain boss just 18 months ago. There are a number of variables at play here. PSG are clearly not going to want to release Pochettino unless they have someone else waiting in the wings. It could be that this is the case, and the Paris hierarchy will be happy for Tottenham to take Mauricio off their hands. While he has only been in post since this past January, Pochettino’s failure to win the Ligue 1 title will not have sat well with the board and fans alike in France. This, coupled with the fact that Mauricio hasn’t really settled in terms of personal life in Paris, are just two more ingredients which potentially make this situation a perfect storm.

Things were not going well when Mauricio Pochettino was relieved of his duties as Tottenham Hotspur manager back in November 2019. Although Spurs had been challenging at the right end of the Premier League table for the bulk of Pochettino’s tenure, results had really begun to tail off. There were a number of factors contributing to this, but I believe it ultimately came down to some discontentment within the camp all round. Pochettino himself was frustrated by a lack of support from Daniel Levy in the transfer market, whilst the players themselves were drained under the tough regime with no trophies to show for their efforts. While Levy should have taken an online slots level gamble and given his manager the necessary transfer funds to succeed, he obviously had some doubts due to domestic form. This created somewhat of a vicious circle. With all sides having had time to reflect, I believe the relationships would be very different second time around.

Jose Mourinho’s tenure in the Tottenham hot seat had a few periods where you thought something positive might happen, but the overall feeling was one of negativity. Mourinho didn’t seem particularly impressed with the squad he inherited, and the players usually looked miserable, especially towards the end of Mourinho’s spell in charge. Harry Kane gave the Portuguese a fond farewell, but it came off the back of yet another season with no success for the team. While Kane scooped individual honours once again, he obviously wants to taste some domestic and European silverware. Harry Kane has stated publicly that he will be listening to offers with regard to a future away from Tottenham Hotspur, but could the return of Mauricio Pochettino change the England captain’s mind? That possibility is another big tick in the positive’s column with regard to the acquisition of Poch. All that remains to be seen is whether Daniel Levy can get this over the line…
