A huge top of the table clash is set to take place this coming weekend, as Chelsea host key rivals Tottenham at Stamford Bridge. Spurs will head into the match as league leaders, coming off the back of an impressive 2-0 victory over Manchester City. Having won their last four Premier League games, Tottenham will certainly arrive full of confidence. Chelsea sit just two points behind Spurs and Frank Lampard’s men have a great opportunity to reverse placings with a victory here.
Chelsea also have reason to be positive heading into Sunday’s big game. The Blues have really managed to sure up their defence in recent weeks, and have already racked up eight clean sheets during the current campaign. Much like the new online casinos popping up, Frank Lampard brought in a number of new additions to the squad this term, and some of these players are beginning to find their feet. Timo Werner in particular has settled into the Premier League very well. The German hitman has found the back of the net eight times in thirteen appearances for Chelsea, and looks set to be in the race for this season’s Golden Boot.
Tottenham’s win over Manchester City was somewhat of a Jose Mourinho masterclass. The home side were happy to let City have a lot of the ball and were able to nullify the majority of chances their opponents made. Spurs looked particularly impressive on the counter, with Son, Kane and Ndombele all linking well in midfield. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg also gave another standout performance. The Dane is arguably Tottenham’s best signing for some time.
This is likely to be a tight affair. As a Spurs supporter, I will be happy to see us take a point here, and a 1-1 draw would not come as a surprise.
